Always keep your battery threads clean
Every time you refill or change your cartridge/cartomizer you should take the time to clean your electronic cigarette battery threads. You can do this with a paper towel by trising the end of the paper towel and inserting it into the battery threads and turning. You should also clean the atomizer/cartomizer threads just as often.
To minimize the possibility of getting liquid into your battery when refilling cartomizers you should always remove the cartomizer from the battery when filling. After you have filled the cartomizer wipe the cartomizer threads clean of liquid before screwing back onto battery.
Not keeping your threads clean will cause the battery to short out causing it to no longer work.
If you get liquid in your battery you can try to remove it using a can of compressed air by blowing the air in the thread end of the battery.
Electronic Cigarette batteries are an electronic device so you should care for them the same as you would your cell phone.
